- A Cliniko API key named VaocherApp, from My info
- The key pasted into Settings → Integrations → Cliniko
- Billable items turned on, to redeem on the invoice
- Your extra note, custom fields and products, if you want them
- A first live order that shows up in Cliniko

Does VaocherApp integrate with Cliniko?
Yes. VaocherApp connects to your Cliniko account with a Cliniko API key, and it's listed in Cliniko's connected apps. Each gift voucher sale creates a patient in Cliniko and can add the voucher as a billable item, so staff can apply it on the invoice.
Does Cliniko have gift vouchers built in?
Not officially. Cliniko's help centre describes a workaround using a product, a letter template and a placeholder patient. With VaocherApp, customers buy and receive gift vouchers online, and each sale is sent to Cliniko for you.
How do staff redeem a gift voucher in Cliniko?
When creating the patient's invoice, staff search for the voucher code in the Item field and add it. The voucher shows as a line with a negative amount, so its value comes off the total.
What if the voucher is worth more or less than the treatment?
If the voucher is worth less, the patient pays the difference. If it covers the treatment exactly, there's nothing to pay. If it's worth more, Cliniko keeps the rest as credit on the patient's account for their next visit.
Does redeeming a voucher in Cliniko update VaocherApp?
No. The integration works one way, from VaocherApp to Cliniko. After the invoice, mark the voucher redeemed in VaocherApp too. The patient's notes can link straight to the order, or you can work through Cliniko's Invoice items export at the end of the day or week.
Who becomes the patient in Cliniko?
The voucher's recipient, using their name and email. When the order has no recipient, the patient is the buyer.
What information is sent to Cliniko?
The patient's name and email, plus an extra note you write, which can include the voucher code, expiry date, balance and a link to the order. You can also map checkout custom fields such as birthday, phone and address to the patient's Cliniko profile. Billable items carry the voucher code, the product name and the voucher value.
How do I add vouchers as Cliniko billable items?
Turn on "Create billable item for each purchased voucher" in Settings → Integrations → Cliniko. From then on, each new voucher is also created as a billable item. Without it, VaocherApp creates the patient only.
Which vouchers are sent to Cliniko?
Gift vouchers sold on your website and vouchers you issue from the VaocherApp dashboard, for example when you sell one at reception. You can send every product or only the products and groups you choose. Bonus vouchers from promotions are added as billable items without creating a patient. Only live orders are sent, and vouchers sold before you connect Cliniko aren't sent.
What do I need to connect Cliniko?
A Cliniko user who's allowed to create API keys. Create a key named VaocherApp under My info in Cliniko, then paste it into Settings → Integrations → Cliniko in VaocherApp. Treat the key like a password, and archive it in Cliniko if you ever want to cut off access. Full steps are in the setup guide.
Does it work with Cliniko accounts outside Australia?
Yes. VaocherApp reads your Cliniko region from your API key, so it connects to your account wherever it's hosted.
